February Color Combo #2

This color combo is not to be forgotten! Finally- when I have a retreat to plan for, a full swap, a messy house and here I am, blogging. LOVE IT! I'm pumped about the simpleness of this card. I haven't used Circle of Friendship in a while and it just works with everything. The scritch-scratch in the background is the background stamp, sandpaper- yes girls, I got that FREE at convention when the orange squares were called- LOVE IT! There is some so saffron DS paper in there and the ribbons that match ww and ee. Can you figure out the ww punched cardstock? Cute eh? Keep guessing how I did that! The ee leaves are/is the five petal punch... I've done that before on here I think. Everything is layered on ee cardstock. Thanks, Heidi for that color- I haven't used that one in a long time. I'm such a bold bright girl- so this was an awesome challenge! Sera

Drag and Brag on the 26th!

This is the planner that I gave my friend, Robin for her birthday. You noticed I'm sure that the photo clip matches perfectly. I purchased a few of these planners at KMart. I know, I know, me and that place. They rock as you can see. This has been decorated inside and out with the Bali Breeze DS paper and I'm so happy with how it turned out! I made one with Ginger Blossom DS paper and I can't wait to unveil my latest creation with the Berry Bliss DS paper! There was a matching pen to go with it as well. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the DS paper and having everything match! Happy Birthday to my oldest son, Kyle who turned ten today! Sera

February Color Combo #1

Finally!! I get around to the color combo - anyone else feel like this has been the busiest month? So with only 4 days left to go - we have something :) Pulled out a set I haven't used in a long time - Heartfelt Thanks. Inked the flower with Elegant Eggplant and the stem with Wild Wasabi. Card base is So Saffron then layered with wasabi DSP from the level 1 hostess paper pack, a strip of paper pierced saffron (photo doesn't show it very well) and a strip of slit-punched scalloped eggplant. Finished it off with eggplant 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around the middle. It just didn't seem "done" at this point so I added the thanks from Much Appreciated. Much better in my opinion. Oh and the flowered layer is mounted with dimensionals. So now that I have that done I better get to my swaps for the retreat. I've really grown to like both this layout and this color combo so for those of you at the retreat - don't be surprised if you see something similar *wink* See you Friday! ~Heidi

Finishing out the Smitten

I know, it's over. I finally took down my Valentine decorations... I have two totes full- that seems odd to me. At any rate this was my Valentine this year. I was inspired by a card I saw on this blog, by Jan Tink. Of course I had to change it to red and a few other things, but wow does that DS paper make it pop! It's retired, but it's red... therefore, I LOVE IT! My sons call him the "rat movie chef guy" so that's his name as you look in the catalog. Hee hee! I have a few more smitten things to share as we close out the month and yes- I plan to do the color combo, Heidi! Sera

Photo Clip

This was my first try at these. I made one for my friend, Robin along with her birthday planner which I'm saving for the "drag and brag" on the 26th! Even though this is a tad out of focus, you can see that it is an awesome idea someone out there had! The majority of the colors come from the Bali Breeze paper, and coordinating gros-grain. I cut a scallop in half and that turned out way cute! I am hoarding my rhinestone brads for some reason so using one was a major deal! Of course the punched flowers are from the retired punch- but I still love 'em! Now... off to the color combos! Sera

We're still smitten!

I have all sorts of Valentine things that I want to share with all of you so February is just going to have to be "that love month" so we can oogle over all of the chocolate remnants! This handy box was made by Heidi with all sorts of treats inside- notice that they aren't shown. I copied a few of those and gave them out as well! The 3x3 is darling is it not! Of course we still can't get enough of the Happy Heart Day Set and that scallop punch. Take a closer look however... what do you see that you LOVE and I LOVE? I see it too, the new real read striped gros-grain ribbon! LOVE IT! Thanks, Heidi! Sera

Happy Valentine's Day at last!

Happy Heart Day sistas!
I made these pringles containers for the crew at work. I wrapped the cans with Vday wrapping paper since I have a ton and then I put in some B&B lotion for their gift. I'm still loving the Happy Heart Day set and made a cute tag ensemble with the cover. They were a huge hit. Of course, I'm cleaned out of pringles cans! XOXO! Sera

Smitten Wow on Valentine's Eve

Dollar Spot mailboxes!! Don't you just love them?! This is the first year I've been able to find them at our local Target. I've coveted these cute little creations on Splitcoast, etc. for years and this year I finally have the chance to play. My daughter's version uses the new Bali Breeze DSP, coordinating inks, papers and ribbons accent it (rose red, tempting turquoise, pumpkin pie). The Sweet Shapes set was used for the mailbox flag. Monkey Business is featured on the 3x3.
And for my son's version I pulled out an oldie but goodie - anyone remember the Toy Box Simply Scrappin' kit? My son saw this while I was cleaning a while ago and wanted to play with it so it was the perfect option for this. Not Quite Navy, and old olive are the primary colors. I did use Night of Navy ribbon which I think is a bit too dark, but he won't care. Double-Line Doodles is used on the flag (I've never use this set either!! - except at Regionals), Happy Heart Day is used on the card and the heart, from Monkey Business, is real red stamped on real red. ~Heidi

Smitten on the 12th

Ths is my Valentine's card this year. I used the hostess set Time Well Spent (again). I also used Purely Pomegranate cardstock, Shimmery White cardstock, and Pretty in Pink cardstock. The ribbon is the discontinued Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon, I used some glitter in the center of the flowers also. The punch is the Scallop Circle.

Regional Smitten

Okay- remember when we went to regional in September, '06? This set was the set we got for FREE! Double Line Doodles, I think. Well I found this picture from Carolyn's CD- thank you, Carolyn, and used it for some Valentines tonight. I just decided to use this photo, but I made some cards with it and I had never used this set before. I'm WAY into the vertical 6 x 3 cards right now and thought this was perfect! I love looking through old CDs that we have collected over the years. Of course most things are retired... but ohhh the inspiration! Keep working on your blog entries- we are almost to Valentine's Day and then we can rest... or actually- we need to get moving on that color combo! Sera

Sunday (early morning) Smitten!

Good Sunday morning to all of you! She's a little crisp outside this morning! In Minnesota we get the best of all kinds of weather and today our best is going to challenge us! Inside of course we are stamping away! This card here is The Happy Heart Day set with the envelope on the outside of the card. It is a 4 x 4 thank you card inside but a very cute Vaslentine none-the-less. I've been wanting to try the basic gray color for a long time and it's a nice alternative to black. Stamping the elephant on pretty in pink and then cutting it out is the best idea ever- of course not my idea! Although I've seen him cut out on our DS paper as well which is also worthy of "HOW CUTE IS THAT?" Throw a dimensional underneath him and you are all set! It's almost the big day! Stay warm and keep stamping to warm your hearts! Sera

Smitten Valentine Favor

After seeing Renee's awesome tins from the swap, I had to share this. This is one of those same size tins. They are made by Wilton sold in the wedding section at Walmart. I used Eastern Elegance Rub Ons on the top and it's filled with valentine candy corn. The outside picture is fuzzy (working on camera issues - sorry). I used Berry Bliss paper around the outside and Pretty in pink 1/4" grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the lid. I gave this away as one of 2 door prizes at today's workshop. Only 5 days until V-day - gotta get making boxes! ~Heidi

Smitten School Valentines

This year we (I) decided we would make our valentines instead of buying the store bought characters. Always sounds like such a good idea on Jan 2nd when you see the first Valentine boxes at the stores. Well now it's Feb 7 - I guess I still have a week right????
Anyway, both valentines are 2-5-7-10 boxes. His is Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi and whisper white with East Coast Prep DSP (love this paper and the color scheme!!!). We used Wild About You; real red and more mustard inks along with pumkin pie marker for the lion's mane. We used the new striped ribbon along the top and stapled it in place so all the goodies don't fall out before the big day. His box still has the flap - her's does not.
Her box is pretty in pink, pomegranate and white. Black ink along with Pretty in pink, creamy caramel and blender pen with pomegranate ink. Berry Bliss DSP in the back ground and the pomegranate satin ribbon (so sad to see that go). We stapled the ribbon around the top to secure it and keep the box closed. Oh and Happy Heart Day set is featured of course.
Good luck to all of you getting your Valentines finished! Happy Smitten Hearts to all of you :)
~Heidi

A Smitten "wow" on the 6th!

Couldn't resist putting in a Wow Wednesday and a Smitten at the same time! This milk carton has been around for a while now on different blogs, etc., so I decided to try one. I had a birthday at work today and it was an awesome treat with some chocolate cookies- get it? Milk carton, cookies, she got it.
It's purely pomegranate and whisper white. Of course the super awesome ribbon is gone now, but I love to use it and thank goodness I have a bunch. The carton is stamped with Dare to be Fabulous and the new SAB set, Lots of Thoughts.
It's a great Valentine idea (change the saying of course) for a teacher gift that is way fun! One of my sons mentioned that he needs to give it to his teacher with some Oreos and a straw. Yikes! I see my other son testing it to see how well it holds milk... gotta go! Sera

So Smitten 2

Here is the 3x3, it is a nice size for the kids. I give these away at work as well, saves on paper and stuff. Same colors as the big card, same set. I really like this set, very easy to use (priceless). and pomegranite and chocolate look great together! ~Carolyn

So smitten

Here is my Valentines card I'm sending out this year (they have been done for 2 weeks, yeah!) I used Very Vanilla, Purely Pomegranate, and Chocholate Chip Cardstock, Purley Pomegranate and chocolate chip stamp pads, Priceless stamp set. I forget what set the words came from... Happy Valentines!~Carolyn (I also made 3x3's that may get posted)

Beautifully Smitten...Nic

This looks like one of my "futzy" cards but it's actually pretty straight forward. The Base is Close to Cocoa with Close To Cocoa Ink. The darker mats are Rose Red and Chocolate Chip...both edges are distressed. I used the small circle stamp from A Beautiful Thing with Chocolate Chip to put a border on the Chocolate Chip Mat. The Rose Red is corner rounded and the Chocolate Chip is Ticket punched. The light pink mat is textured Pretty In Pink. The Pretty in Pink mat is also distressed on the edges. I used Pretty In Pink and Rose Red for the two-stamp technique flowers from A Beautiful Thing. Chocolate Chip ribbon wrapped it all up. Happy Stampin...Nic

So sweet of you...Nic's Smitten!

I don't have black felt so you get the coffee table instead. I got extra mileage out of this card; I used it for my Sale-A-Bration swap as well as this weekend's Stamp Camp. This is a great chance to use up your scraps. I started with a Purely Pomegranate base and a white mat. This particular one has Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose, and Pink Passion for the scalloped circles. (Close To Cameo, Rose Red, Pixie Pink, etc will all work, check the scrap box) Punch out four circles using the Scallop Circle Punch. Stamp the So Sweet Of You on a scrap of white and punch it out with the Scallop Circle Punch. Use the 1/16" punch to punch the center of your So Sweet circle as well as the upper two corners of the mat to place black brads. Attach your four solid colored scalloped circles, trim the left and right edges so they match the flat edge of the mat. Mount the Purely Pomegranate So Sweet circle with a pop-up. Stamp "you make life" in Purely Pomegranate. Tada! Nicolle

Smitten Sista Becky

This is a card Carolyn and I used for our Stamp Camp this weekend. It seemed to be a hit. We used "Unfrogettable" and "Holidays & Wishes". The colors are Pixie Pink, Gable Green, Garden Green, and Whisper White CS. We used Pink Passion, Green Galore, and Versamark ink. Some Twill Tape, Tag punch, and a Green Galore brad. ~Becky

Kristine is smitten!

This is Kristine's awesome swap creation- a perfect start to our smitten sistas launch! You all recognize the set Happy Heart Day, but it's the set, Sealed with a Kiss that I was pumped to see! Where has that been? And why did I miss it earlier? I love when that happens! I really like the heart/flower on the tab- how cute is that? This is a great scrapbooking idea for pictures too, use that tab and then stick cardstock or pictures inside the tab. The spiral punch- can't say enough about that! What an awesome finishing touch. Thanks, Kristine! Sera
