WOW Wednesday

Here is one of the cards that I made for our stampcamp this weekend (Becky and I). It is a slider and so fun!! The inside is also decorated (no picture) I always like to have my insides decorated. never fails when someone is looking at your card they open it to see the inside. I like something to be there. Here I used the wanted set, not quite navy, old olive and basic brown stamppads, Porcelain prints designer series paper (I was going to use western sky, but had not yet recieved it). star punches and hemp twine for the lasso's that you pull to move the horse. I mounted it on confetti cream, not quite navy paper and old olive is also envolved. Thanks for looking!~Carolyn

Drag & Brag

This calendar was made using a chipboard coaster, a small calendar, and the Happy Me simply scrappin' bundle (last years third level hostess kit). It was made by Tracie, after Becky told her to make it. Since it was our supplies that were used to make it, we are taking credit. Have a great one!! Carolyn P.S. we made it with 4 minutes to spare!! :)

Drag & Brag for the 26th

This is not that much to brag about, but it's what I worked on today. This is called a criss-cross box which I've been seeing on a number of blogs out there. I think the original design came from Nicole Heady. This is a link to her blog:

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2007/12/5.html

The supplies for this box are: So Many Scallops and Party Punch (retired) stamp sets; regal rose, choc chip, whisper white CS; Real red ink and choc chip marker; Scallop punch, round tab punch; red button, Easter Elegance rub ons. Be careful with the rub ons. Today was my first day using them and I now have rub-ons stuck to other things because I wasn't paying attention. Have fun with them!! ~Heidi

New Catalog Open House #2

Here are the other 2 cards they made at the open house. The pink card is standard size. This card was inspired by Sera's last swap card. The elephant is stamped on Pretty in Pink CS and then cut out and adhered with dimensionals. The Whisper White piece slips into the real red pocket. FYI - the real read pocket is a 3x3 love note turned upside down and the top 3/4" of front flap is trimmed off. No adhesive is used to keep the red pocket together so the note can be slid in easily with out sticking to the sides. The pretty in pink taffeta ribbon is tied around the pocket which keeps it together. Other supplied used are: Happy Heart Day set, basic black ink and CS, real red, green galore markers; both tag punches; pretty in pink, basic black ink.
Card #3 is a 3x3 inspired from the SU! workshop wizard. Time Well Spent set; tempting turquoise CS and marker; so saffron CS and marker; river rock CS, bali breeze DSP; basic black ink; black gingham ribbon. TFL ~Heidi

New Catalog Open House

I'm finally getting around to posting these samples. On Jan 12th I hosted a New Catalog Open House. I offered 3 make and takes for the event and with a $40 order they qualified to win the free stamp set which was being given away as part of the January Sweet Treats Promo. For this first sample, The Genie Bag, I have to give all credit to our very own Angie. Thanks again, Sista!! This was inspired by her samples. Stamp sets used are Time Well Spent and Celebrate Everything. Groovy Guava, Ruby Red, Very Vanilla cardstock; Ginger Blossom DSP; Ruby Red, Basic Brown, Groovy Guava inks; blender pen, gold brads; word window, scallop and 1 3/8" circle punches. The base of the bag is a white lunch sack cut down to fit a standard card front - 5.5" x 4.25"

WOW Wednesday

I've really debated about whether to blog this at all because by doing it, I will be the first person who DID NOT USE BLACK FELT!!! I'm just going to be a rebel tonight and from now on, I will comply! Fact is that I've already given this away so I don't have it to do the photo over again. This is something I whipped up for what we call in my family a "Crafty Christmas Party". My mom, sister, aunts and I have gotten together for the last 15 or so years to exchange gifts in January. These gifts must be hand-made (by someone). Whoever hosts makes a meal, has to leave their tree up until the event and then we number the gifts, draw numbers, and open presents! This years event was the 12th at my sisters house and was WONDERFUL! Here is the Countdown to Christmas Clipboard that I made (received by my aunt Sharon). Used the 9x9 onboard clipboard, retired wintergreen paper, scalloped circle punch, All Through the Year stamp set, Soft Sky Ink, brads from the Pretties Kit, printed the numbers and words out on the computer, large & small tag punches, white grosgrain, soft sky double-stitched ribbon. I glued washers under each number and there are magnets under the center panel. When I got done, I thought that the metal clasp at the top of the clipboard was very black and seemed stark against the light clipboard ... so, I used a paintbrush and covered the whole thing with crystal effects then poured dazzling diamonds all over it - very nice, sparkly and snow-like! Hope you like and can forgive me for not using black felt! ~ Angie

January Color Combo #5

Hello there! This card turned out pretty decent even though it certainly wasn't what was intended. Since I was the only stamper in the US of A without the ticket corner punch I decided to make sure I put it to good use! The stamp sets include, Western, Happy Everything, and Weathered. I used the scallop punch, a big boy brad (as I like to call them) , the window punch and that is the soft sky ds paper even though it may be a little light to see. I do like this color combo! Sera

It's WOW Wednesday!

I made this for sista Becky for Christmas this year and it was super fun! The main color in her stamp room is almost amethyst and this ds paper, Uptown, was perfect. I like to buy these letters at HL. Something different and fun to make. I adore monograms as you all know! I made some other things to go along with the B as well- 3x3 cards, a notebook and matching pen, a journal with the small chipboard "b" very fun!
There are all sorts of accessories used here of course, let me see if I get them all... some pretties, the five petal flower punch, apricot appeal ribbon and wild wasabi stitched ribbon- my fave, some chip board, a rhinestone brad and the retired spring flower bouquet punch- so sorry to see it go! A very fun project! I like to adhere the paper with Modge Podge, let it dry, then cut the paper and use an exacto knife to get closer to the edges. Shaving those edges down with the sanding block finishes it off nicely, plus I'll find the areas that need more MP that way. Love those letters! Sera

January Color Combo #4

I know, here is that set again, Baby Jesus is Born. Even though we are well beyond the 12th day of Christmas, I still had to post. In fact, I made this card and said ooooooh what a unique color combo- and the January combo was born as well. Sorry that the picture isn't that great. New camera- still working out the kinks.
The recipe is the same, yet there is some soft sky ds paper that really adds the touch on the bottom half. (Psst- do you see chocolate chip on this card? Ha!) Love that. So... now that we are blogging... this Wednesday... it's your time to share a 3-D item of some sort. Time to show off! What great things have been blogged already! Sera

January Color Combo Card #3

Wow, I did it! I really like these colors together. I would've never picked them on my own, so thanks for a great color challenge this month.
Time Well Spent and Tagger's Dozen stamp sets; Whisper white, soft sky, apricot appeal, creamy caramel, and choc chip cardstock; choc chip and soft sky ink pads; apricot appeal, pumpkin pie and creamy caramel markers; blender pen, antique brass hodgepodge hardware, soft sky stitched ribbon; 1 1/4" circle and scallop punches to make the scallopped edge. I saw this on someone's blog today and am so excited with the results. Hope you like :) ~Heidi

Groovy Guava Scrapbook Page

For this page I used Whisper White CS, Prints Designer Series Paper Groovy Guava, Groovy Guava CS, Pretties Kit, and Build-a-Brad Antique Brass. I also used some non SU stuff (guava flower, creative memories paisley punch, and some white brads, to hook on my letters which were made with a cricut). I think it turned out really pretty, hope you enjoy it! (The pictures are of my younger sister and my daughter, about 17 years ago now) Yikes!!
I'm working on my daughters album right now :). Cya! Carolyn

January Color Combo Card #2

I agree w/Becky ~ wasn't sure about the colors, but took her advice and threw in a little au chocolat ... my fav flavor! I used the stamp sets Time Well Spent, Much Appreciated and Canvas and Fast Flowers wheel. Using soft sky, apricot appeal (I always want to call that ALWAYS apricot!?!), creamy caramel, very vanilla and chocolate chip CS; besides the challenge colors (soft sky, creamy caramel, apricot appeal), I used pumpkin pie and chocolate chip ink. Accessories were the aqua painter, fire circle rhinestone brads, slit punch, three for you punch box punch, coluzzle, uni-ball signo gel pen, dimensionals, chocolate 1/4" grosgrain (oops, no longer in the catty). Whew! I think that's all. Enjoy, Angie

January Color Combo #1

Well, I guess I'm gonna try this. So far, so good with your directions Sera! This is a color combo card for January. Wasn't sure I liked the combo, but when I added Close to Cocoa it seemed to work. I used the free hostess set we received and Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Apricot Appeal, Soft Sky, and Shimmery White CS. I used Timber Brown Staz On, Close to Cocoa pad, Apricot Appeal and Creamy Caramel markers. Soft Sky double stitched ribbon and a blender pen with Soft Sky ink. ~Becky

Monthly Color Combo!

At our Christmas meeting someone had the awesome idea to have color combos on our blog! In other words... making a card that uses the colors on the combo list. When you post your cards, make sure to put "(The month) color combo # (whatever number card is next)!" in the title box. We will also have a Scrap Saturday when we post only scrapbook pages, and a Wow Wednesday when we share other 3D items. And of course- what would we do without Drag and Brag- the post with the ultimate stamped item. That post will be on the 26th of each month. Why the 26th? It's my number from the good ol' days and I won't forget that. Sera Card Making

Christmas fave this year!

It's still the Christmas season right? I made this card for a number of people and it was one of the cards at my workshop in early December. Love it! I did enjoy this set (Baby Jesus is Born) the entire season. Although the black felt may not work with the black blog, but we'll work with it! The card base is not quite navy cardstock, whisper white and soft sky cardstock too, with pomegranate stitched ribbon. I used the inks that match and the window punch too! It was nice and simple and a HUGE hit! Sera

Snow Daze!

I know- it's NSR- but it's my house! The last post in September was a bit "unfinished" so I thought I would share the final "ta da!" Okay the real reason the house photo is here is because my lovely husband bought me a pink semi-high-tech camera (it rocks) and I was hoping I had some stamping items on it- no such luck- but I learned to download photos from the new one- yahoo! So stamping items will have to wait until tomorrow. I need to add some photos of the sistas and some other odds and ends- and where is the gopher hockey reference you are wondering? In due time. Happy Post New Year and Happy Resolutions-Usually-End-Day! Sera Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

The stamp sistas are back in action! Cheers It was amazing to hear comments from stampers that read our blog. Of course the comments these past six weeks were- "Where is your blog?" Well after shopping around for other options, I'm back here. "The grass isn't always greener," someone said. So as a part of our (my) New Year's Resolution... (I only have three this year) the stamp sistas are blogging again. This time it isn't all up to me, but you too... I'll email those details to you at a later date. So for now we are back online and I'm sure you are LOVING the new design! Let me play around with it for a bit, and maybe we'll have our first picture tonight! Sera
