This was a cute moment on stage after Shelli's presentation and some other remarks from Sara. Sterling was invited to say grace before lunch, but he couldn't resist a moment or two of his own banter before the prayer. So fun! Sweet Cake from Sweet Shop

So it was my first Manager's Reception and I was pretty excited. What a great event! We were entertained by Chinese Acrobats as we celebrated the Chinese New Year. They were unbelievable! I met some new friends from Missouri and we had a great time! We received a new stamp set and some great SU chop sticks as we left the theater. So awesome! Later, I was able to get a few pictures in the Make and Take area as well. The Blossom Builders are big for Spring! We ended our evening at the famous cafe on the river, the name I cannot remember, but all of the colorful umbrellas are there. We sat with some friends from Illinois and had a great time! We headed back to our room to stamp swaps of course... why do I do that? I had 8 pounds of stamping things that I brought along this trip, I never learn! Sera

We had a great time in Texas! Here is Carmen and Lee Ann as we are off to the convention center. We are just leaving the IHOP after a full breakfast, like no other! Look at that river, in the middle of the mall! It was so cool!

We caught up with some old friends, not that the friends are old, but it's been a very long time since we have seen Martha! What a treat. We were able to hang out with her for most of the conference. Hope to see her in April at our sista retreat! More Texas pictures to come this weekend (computer is fixed)! Sera

We are having a great time here in San Antonio! We have learned all sorts of great things and we can't wait to share! Day One has been busy, walking around the River Walk, sightseeing and doing our make and takes. I attended Managers Reception and later we had some late night snacks at the most famous restaurant on the River Walk, so famous that I can't remember the name at the moment. The weather is beautiful and tomorrow the temp will be 77 degrees! More to come from Texas... Sera

Designer Frames

I'm having a blast playing with the Designer Frames Embossing Folders! The best part is you can get them for FREE starting next week during Sale-a-bration! My club hostess asked me to show a few things using these folders. Once I sat down and started to play, I was thrilled with all the fun things I made!

Both the oval and the rectangle are equally fun and functionable. What I discovered with these frames is I was able to create great cards quickly and simply! The "punch" these frames offer finishes a card with little more required.

This one is a notecard (sold in sets of 20 w/ envelopes - classic note card size 5 x 3 1/2; $5.95). I am planning to use a few of the Occasions sets I have on hand and make up some card sets for quick and easy gifts.

And last but not least - the best part is the XL Oval Punch punches out the center of this frame perfectly! The options here are endless! Have fun creating with these great frames! ~Heidi

This card above is all about the new product in the mini catalog! This card was created with Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede and the DSP, Beau Chateau (which is in the Idea Book and Catalog). The stamp set is new too, Tea Shoppe (125545), a to-be-fave for all of the vintage fans out there! You may also notice the simple heart pattern at the top of the card... I know, those hearts are so cute! There is a new embossing folder set called Adorning Accents (125601). There are three patterns in the set, including the hearts above. The picture isn't the best as I was trying to make the hearts the most visible part which worked, but the card looks nicer in person. At any rate, it's fun to focus the stamping on something that isn't red or green! Sera

Beautiful Season (122682) is one of those sets, a great bird set. I CASEd this card from a swap at convention, no label on the back. I enjoyed making a few card sets with this stamp set. The DSP is in the Holiday Mini Catalog, Frostwood Lodge (124002). There are only a few more days that this DSP is available. The Holiday Mini catalog ends, January 3. Happy New Year everyone! Christmas Lodge 2

Here are a few more cards with this great set! I was able to mass produce with this set, Christmas Lodge one afternoon and loved it! The middle card is actually a card for winter and I made a bunch of those for the many winter birthdays that will be celebrated this year, if winter ever comes. I used some of the Dazzling Details (124117) on the snow. The liquid glue is easy to use and I was able to place the gitter perfectly. I just needed to make sure I gave it ample time to dry. Very fun! Sera

Christmas Lodge

This set, Christmas Lodge (123767) was my favorite this year. I made a whole bunch of these cards with the cheery cobbler and crumb cake that you see above. This is one of my favorite color combos. If you take a closer look at the second photo, you'll notice that the front of the card is only half there so-to-speak and that the cabin opens the card. The mini vintage tags (118763) are so fun! I was able to stamp the bird right onto the tag, love it!

Non-Christmas Not So Seriously

Here is a non Christmas post in the midst of all our last minute Christmas preparations. This card was made at our December club meeting. My hostess requested something with this set as she wanted some non-Christmas/Winter cards to have on hand.

This is a card front that doesn't open, but the scallop circle piece rotates out of place to reveal the message underneath. The main focal images are stamped first and then the Clear Circle Bigz die is centered over the image and run through the BigShot. This is layered on the Scallop Circle Bigz die in Early Espresso.

The dress is paper pieced from the Just Add Cake Designer Series paper and her earrings are the small Basic Pearls - LOVE that detail :) The base is So Saffron and Tangarine Tango - the dress is Poppy Parade - love how those colors work together.

Hope we can all remember in these last few days of rush to not take anything "So Seriously"! ~Heidi

I heard someone on the radio today mention that this Monday marks the date of the "last minute holiday shopping time." Really? Today? I didn't believe it at all until the next two radio commercials both stated, "You can't miss out on these last minute deals." Sheesh! I've hardly started! I need to keep stamping and ignore all of that! The cards above were made with stamp sets in the Holiday mini catalog. You've seen that stocking builder punch many times before with that Frostwood Lodge DSP, so awesome! The card on the right was created with the Christmas Lodge stamp set (123767), my favorite Christmas set to date. These cards are Tasha's creations that she shared with us at our Christmas party. December Club Gift Tags

Tis the season for Gift Tags!! We made these tags as one of our Stamp Club projects this week. The top used that great snowman image from Tags til Christmas. Stamped in Baja Breeze and layer on a Baja Breeze scalloped circle. A little night of navy colored onto his scarf and some white bakers twine finish it off - can't get any easier than that!!

The bottom one starts with a tag cut out of Crumb Cake carkstock using the Two Tags die. It's folded up in front so the little flap (hidden behind the focal point) holds it shut. We stamped one of the greetings from Beautiful Season inside. The focal image of course is from Beautiful Season too. The stamp is colored with markers (Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke) then stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock. The Curly Label punch coordinates with this image perfectly and we punched out two more shapes from Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the layered shadow behind. Cherry Cobbler seam binding and bakers twine finish it off.

This has inspired me to start wrapping my own gifts at home. No time like the present - tee hee! ~Heidi

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am currently cooking up a storm for our second Thanksgiving for my DHs side. I'm excited since there will be plenty of stamping involved since my SIL (sista Becky) is a demo and her first workshop is Friday, wahoo! She is busy busy! The cards above were made by sista Kristine. She was here for our first Thanksgiving on Thursday and she brought me a stack of cards that she had made for her Oct and Nov workshops. I'll be sure to share them this week as I am ready to show off the Christmas stuff of course! Other than that, it's been a busy month, whew! My DH practically sawed his hand off about two weeks ago, (no not really of course, it was an accident at the hunting shack) so I've been busy with that, but the stitches are out, so now he can stamp too (he doesn't ordinarily, not that he will start now either)! At least he is on the mend. Have a great Saturday everyone and see you soon! Sera

Happy Stampers Nov Club Projects

My stamp club, "The Happy Stampers" meets once a month. Here are the projects that we did in November.

Please forgive the fact that this snowman card is sideways - I can't figure out how to get him turned. The details of this card are pretty straight forward. Punch out 3 circles for the snowman. The size of the circles I used are 1 3/4", 1 3/8" and 1". The Real Red layer is embossed using the Snow Burst embossing folder. The arms for the snowman are made from the snowflake punch.

These 2 paper bows are made using the Frostwood Lodge Designer Paper. There are 13 strips of paper used to make these and one large jumbo brad. 8 strips are 1" x 5 1/4" and 5 strips are 1" x 4". Each end of all strips are punched with a small hole about 1/4" from the end. Each strip is folded/bent into a loop so the holes match up and then loaded onto the brad. When all loops are loaded, the final strip is rolled into a cylinder and loaded and the brad is opened to secure them all in place. Note that the top bow is made with all loops the same way, the bottom bow is made with the designer paper made with the loops in opposite directions to show off both sides of the designer paper.

This card shows how you can color our Silver Glitter Paper using any colored Classic Ink Refill. The balloons on this card were punched out of a strip of silver glitter paper that was colored using Melon Mambo Ink refill and an aquapainter. The more water you use the lighter the color you will get. You could let it dry and re-apply to get a darker color too. Very fun technique!

More Bingo Bits

I was able to stamp a bit today after soccer. What a treat! We had frost on our field this morning! We were out there by 7:30am and whew, winter is coming! Our team is still winning (we are in the state semi-finals) and you may have gathered that since I've been blog non-exsistent for two whole weeks. I obviously didn't get the automatic posting timer to work correctly on the blog, hee hee! I've been busy with workshops here and there and I'm excited to turn the calendar to November! I love Holiday stamping! One die that is sure to be a hit this season is the peekaboo frames die (124587) that you see here. Take a peek in the Holiday mini catalog on page 36. I used it to make a few windows on these cards, very fun. A simple detail that is fun and different! Sera

I've been playing around with my Simply Scored scoring tool and thanks to sista Julie, I came up with this card. Two Card Friday

Two cards today, both created with the Gently Falling set. The DSP is called Well Worn and is a perfect decorative paper for fall. I used the markers and colored right on the stamp for the leaf outlines. You may see a hint of blue in there as that is Not Quite Navy, a non-traditional fall color, Love that! It's time. I've decided to get ready for fall! I love fall decorating. The weather has been cold enough, and warm enough both as of late so it's time to get in the mood. In this case, I have been resisting this set and then Carmen pulls out this card at our downline meeting the other night... wowza, I love it! How many more flower sets do I need? Loving these Leaves!

I love this set, Gently Falling. Of all the leaf sets that SU has had over the years, this one is my fave! The inspiration from this card came from the color coach. I looked up rich razzleberry and pumpkin pie and old olive were listed... and this is what I came up with! Love it! Thanks to the sistas as we celebrated fall at our demonstrator meeting tonight. Living in Alaska is all about adventure and being willing to face the next one. That's why when I saw Daring Adventure in the new catalog I had to have it. My hiking boots are always a bit muddy and headed for the next bend along the way. So for the first ever Stampin' Up Regional event in Alaska I had to use that set. Night Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler, and Crumb Cake make this a rich card with not a lot of work. Who can make a card without their Big Shot?!!?

Ok, maybe I can do one without the Big Shot. At one of our Stamp-A-Stacks Charlene demonstrated a quick and easy card using a masking technique and the Circle Circus set. I took the same idea (I still had my masking pieces on a scrap sheet of paper) and instead used the Delicate Doilies set with the new In Colors of Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, and Island Indigo. This card is a breeze and jazzed up a notch with the new Ruffled Ribbon.

The card above is Angie's awesome creation! She made a bunch of these for her convetion swaps this year. Her card ingredients include cherry cobbler, peach parfait, the DSP, Paisley Petals, framed tulips folder and the stamp set four frames. I was going through my stack and came across her card and said, perfect and then created the card below. Ingredients include much of the same but the colors are wisteria wonder and daffodil delight and the DSP is Flirtatious Specialty. I made a dozen or so of these for my customer appreciation night thank you cards. Speaking of Angie... it is her birthday today! Happy Birthday Angie! Faith in Nature

There are some really cool hostess sets this year and this is set, Faith in Nature is on of my faves. I received this as a swap (no name) and my own set has just arrived and I am putting it together as we speak. The colors in this card are calypso coral, lucky limeade and chocolate chip... a great combo! I am diving into my Holiday preorder today and I'm very excited! I do enjoy stamping for fall. I was on vacation and here are a few shots that can actually be shared, meaning, I am saving all of the wedding shots for a super scrapbook and well you all know the Vegas saying... hee hee, only teasing. Inspired!

At our last demonstrator meeting, I received the swap card from Carmen that inspired my card below and knew at once that my club would LOVE it! I changed very little (only the embossing folder and the sentiment stamp). I took that idea and went on to create three 3x3 notecards (inspired by Sera) that coordinate with this and are great in a pinch for gift enclosures or to leave a note for someone special.

Wouldn't THIS be nice ...... it's such a good idea in theory but how many workspaces look like this? NOT mine :) We saw a multitude of great ideas (like this) on display at the Stampin' Up! home office in Riverton, Utah when we were there for convention last month.
Why don't you make August your month to get organized before school starts. Use Chalkboard Decor Elements (Oval Labels #121019 for $5.95) to label containers of school supplies, snacks or to indicate where your favorite student SHOULD hang their coat or backpack. Enjoy! Angie

Fruit and Flowers

I couldn't resist sharing two photos of one of my fave product suites, Berry Blossoms. The stamp set shown above is Fruit and Flowers, page 99 of the IB&C. I have always enjoyed the fruit sets... remember Citrus and Such, or Fruit Medley, loved them both... and the classic Tart and Tangy. I have no idea why that is, but here we go again with another! I do not have the set as of yet, but the DSP, Berry Blossoms just arrived and I love it! The best part is that the DSP includes a bunch of the In Colors so I can use them together right away! I had some time to play around today as I ran back and forth to the various activities of the day. This card was made with the stamp, GROW, the convention theme this year. I used the Hostess DSP, Cheerful Treat. With this particular piece of DSP, the pattern is striped and plenty busy, but it makes simple cards a snap! I still have a few melon mambo buttons that I love, so since it matches... couldn't resist. Sera

This was one of my favorite things at convention last year. All of the new product was put together as a one huge candy shop. The display was to show off the colors, but there were so many cute ideas that we oooed and aaahed for hours! SU! always does a wonderful job "showing off" their product. The ideas are awesome and so valuable to the demonstrators, love it! This year at convention, our number has grown to eight! I went to the color coach for this match up! This is perfect plum, lucky limeade and riding hood red. The ribbon is retired, but the colors are fairly striking together. Island Indigo and Calypso Coral are very fun for summer. Together with Daffodil Delight, they make this cute card a great thank you note. I always struggle with stamp sets that have a "stripe of images" in a row, so I "spotlighted" one of the boys and it worked! This stamp set, Sunny Fun has an ice cream and sandal "stripe" that I'll need to try next. This stamp set is only available through the end of August. I am having a great time creating cards with the new In Colors. For today, Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder are featured with Elegant Eggplant. They are super together. If you have a color coach, you'll be excited to know that there are five new inserts for these colors and they also have dynamic duos and color matches on the back. I found this combo on the back of the Lucky Limeade color coach card. I used the ever popullar Fun Flowers die to make the flower and the DSP is Elegant Eggplant, part of the Regals DSP Paper Pack that is returning in the new Idea Book and Catalog! Love it! Sera

I'm still hooked on the flowers in this hostess set! Pool party makes a splash again in this card and the new color is island indigo! For all of the stampers out there that miss taken with teal, this is a nice comprimise. Perhaps there is a little bermuda bay mixed in for good measure. You'll notice the new punch as well, you will love that! This border punch is sure to be a huge it. I have a few other cards that will showcase this punch later in the week. This card has a few new elements other than just the new in color, calypso coral. The DSP, Just Add Cake is new this year as well. There are many colors to this DSP, in fact to be totally honest, I guessed and thought wow, this sure matches nicely, then realized... ah, there isn't any calypso coral in this DSP at all, it's peach parfait. Since I realized this about four seconds ago, I figured I would be honest... but the base is calypso coral and it coordinates, but isn't spot on. How's that for putting it all together? The die is one of my faves, flower daisies #2, I love it! A quick card that packs a punch! I hope you are enjoying In Color week! Sera

I made a bunch of these cards and they turned out to be really handy for retirements, appreciation, etc. I was inspired by the last two books that I've read, one a romantic comedy, one a family thriller but both were stories that had to do with sailing. The nautical theme is everywhere, from big box stores, clothing, to books, decor and even stamps. Way to go SU for keeping up with the trends. The sentiment is one from the retiring stamp set, Define your Life. That set is a keeper. The sail boat of course is in the current mini catalog. I had to use the Sweet and Sour DSP for one more event before it went away. The above card combines old with the new by using the Pretty Postage stamp set and punch from the summer mini with the soon to be gone Sweet and Sour.

Bugs and Kisses is my FAVORITE kid set. Since I don't have my own kids I don't make a lot of kid themed cards. This is my go to, in a pinch kid card. Tomorrow Char and I have a Stamp-A-Stack with a few old things going away and a few teasers for the new one. I needed to "worm" in one more buggy card! Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you were able to enjoy the day. My sons and I spent the morning at the Memorial Day parade here in town. The boys carried the flags for the scouts and had a great time. It's a small event, but important nonetheless. The rest of the day included planting flowers and dreaming about the next landscaping endeavor. My DH goes fishing soon... I have big plans. Yahoo! Nautical Expedition

For the first time in weeks, the weather is wonderful so it's a quick post today! I need to get out and find my roses and other landscaping. They are all buried under last summer's foilage. However, here is a card that has summer in mind. This is another pattern in the DSP, beyond the garden suite. Peach parfait and wild wasabi are the colors that make this project. There are so many great products to the new beyond the garden suite in the summer mini catalog. I love this card that Carmen shared with us at our downline meeting. She used the embossng older on the background and the matching set and flowers for the main focal point. Flower Garden embossing folder

This embossing folder, flower garden (123113) has been fun to work with. This card is a rather simple card, but sometimes thats all it takes! I used cherry cobbler, basic black and very vanilla and the pearls. I've been working on my downline meeting swaps today between baseball and soccer games. Pumpkin Pie Fest

I am enjoying the Flower Fest stamp set, can you tell? This card is a plain monochromatic card that I had fun putting together. Finally... I purchased a new scallop edge punch after dropping the first one I owned on the cement, drove over it and the dog got it. I didn't realize how much I used this punch until I didn't have one. I used the scallop circle and punched the center out of another flower, sponged it and then put it over the center of this flower. I grabbed a dimensional for, well, dimension and that's it! Love those brights! Sera

Spring Crop

Charlene and I have been hosting an every other month crop now for a year. The day includes 12 hours of uninterrupted crafting. In traditional crop format everyone brings there projects to work on but we have added some Stampin' Up bonuses for our guests....make and takes of two full size cards and a 3x3 plus a two page 6x6 scrapbook layout. We provide lunch and dinner and the gals brings snacks for themselves. It's a blast.

This month it was my turn to do the cards. The above card is so NOT my usual style but I saw the colors and the DSP used and I had to do it. Tangerine Tango and Rose Red, embossing with the new Melon Mambo over Tangerine Tango craft ink, plus vintage brads. It was a ton of fun. I had to do a quick 2 minute card to counter the time the above one takes. This whisper white on whisper white 3x3 using the new Pretty Postage and Postage Punch is a breeze to make.

Finally, a new technique for the gals...layered embossing. I used the punch pack to do the tiny flowers, attached them to the mat with glue dots and then ran it together through the Big Shotz with the Lattice embossing envelope. Everyone can use a little "Hope" right? For some reason I have a massive quantity of Pretty in Pink so this was a great way to widdle way at it. It is paired with Peach Parfait for a spring time feel.

Miss you gals but we are having a blast in Alaska with all sorts of new Stampin' Friends. Miss you all! Nicolle

I used one of my favorite stamp sets Grunge Rock...which is PERFECT for teen boys! Add some DSP from Play Date, a few punches and of course a texture plate with the Big Shot and you have a great "boy"or "man" card!

There are some great stamp sets and DSP in the Occasions mini, but there are only two days remaining! The frame to the left is my attempt at art, which it isn't, but it's still cute. The Springtime Vintage DSP is showcased with a number of embellishments which are attached to the glass of the frame as the DSP is underneath. Many of the buttons and adornments are in the Occasions mini as well, so make sure to take a quick peek! It's not the Easter Bunny

We have a pheasant in our yard that we call Phoebe, in fact every pheasant we see is called Phoebe no matter where we are in the world. We saw her (which is actually a he) on Easter morning so she fits the theme for this post. This is another awesome swap from our sista retreat! Looks awesome doesn't it? I'm not a fan of peach,and cherry cobbler is my favorite but this looks very nice together! There is a splash of old olive there as well. I tend to stick with a set for a few days, make some samples and then move on to something else of course... but I do plan to work with this one today... I'm off, and my boys are in school... wahoo! Gift Card sets

I love giving card sets for gifts. I made this set over the weekend, which includes 8 cards as shown and a set of envelopes. Using the same stamp set and sentiment make it really easy, but there is something striking about using black or basic gray for the main image and changing the colors in just the cardstock. Plus, I had these pre-cut from other workshops so it was a snap. Best of all, she LOVED them! Sera
